Ejector marks — definition

The round impressions left by the ejector pins as the part is pushed out of the die.

The marks are small circular areas sitting slightly proud of or slightly below the surrounding face. They are unavoidable — the part has to come out of the die somehow.

What can be controlled is where they land. Pins should bear on ribs, bosses or heavy sections, never on a thin face they could deform.

On a visible part the ejector points belong on hidden faces. If geometry makes that impossible, it has to be settled before the tool is built — not after the first trial run, when changing it is expensive.
