Blasting — definition
A treatment in which a blast medium is propelled at the surface to give an even matte finish and remove casting residues.
Blasting does three things: it removes small casting marks and release agent residues, it visually evens out the surface so minor variations become less noticeable, and it creates a rough microstructure that coatings key into better.
That is why blasting almost always sits immediately before a coating or anodising step.
Blasting does not remove flash or parting lines, and it does not correct dimensions. It changes the appearance of the surface, not the geometry.
We do blasting in house.
