Sand casting — definition
Casting into a single-use mould of bonded sand, broken up after each pour.
The mould is formed from sand around a pattern and destroyed when the part is removed. The method handles large, heavy parts and almost any geometry, with very low tooling cost compared with metal moulds.
In return the tolerances are coarser and the surface rougher than in permanent mould casting, and the cycle is long.
Rolvsøy Metallindustri does not do sand casting. If you need large structural castings in low volume, that is a different supplier, and we will say so.
