EEA origin — definition

That the goods are produced within the EEA — with consequences for customs, carbon tariffs and supply chain requirements.

Origin is a legal concept, not a marketing phrase. A component cast in Rade from metal remelted in Norway is an EEA good.

That has three practical consequences for a buyer:

CBAM. EEA goods are exempt from the carbon border mechanism. No registration, no certificates, no emissions reporting.

Supply chain traceability. If you are covered by the Norwegian Transparency Act, due diligence is simpler when the supplier is one name at one address in Norway, rather than three links you do not know.

Security of supply. A short transport distance, no customs clearance on import, and a tool that sits a drive away.
